Youth Advocacy & Policy
Youth are the leaders we need to create the future Fresno we all deserve. We respect the inherent power within each of our young people and stand with them to transform their lives, schools, families and communities to be places where everyone belongs.
We are currently working with our young people to continue to develop programming that is reflective of the values and priorities of youth in our community.
Barrios in Action
Barrios in Action focuses on youth leadership development, political education, organizing strategy, and identity awareness for young people ages 15-24, regardless of sex or gender identity. The curriculum used in this program helps youth to understand intersectionality in social justice movements, connect personal experiences to political realities, deep dive into areas of conflict and interest for program participants, provide historical knowledge and present context of current events to youth, and engage and demonstrate organizing strategy in Barrios’ advocacy campaign efforts with program participants.
Fresno Youth Rising
Fresno Youth Rising is a leadership development and advocacy training program for youth who have been previously incarcerated or involved in the justice system. It supports youth in understanding the systems that shaped them, building positive identity, and breaking cycles of incarceration by transforming themselves and their community.
